One Saturday afternoon, I'd noticed that my husband had been spending an unusual amount of time in our office doing who knows what. Our little girl was just under two months old and my in-laws were staying with us for a few weeks. Being a film editor, my husband would in fact disappear from time to time for hours on end, working on creating his latest personal project. Labors of love, some of these projects were family based, and this particular project seemed to center around our new daughter...unbeknownst to me. Finally, that Saturday, my husband chose to "unveil" his masterpiece, and invited us all in to the office. There were chairs centered around the computer for all to sit down. "Time for a short film!" He announced. What I saw moved me to tears. He had made a three minute film with stills and video footage that began with pictures of both he and I as newborns, then as adults, when we met, our wedding, then of me pregnant. Intercut with this were pictures of my sonograms. He sped them up so that you could see our daughter's development while she was in the womb. Then we heard a cry, and he had cut in the video footage of her birth. The final pictures were of our daughter, ending with a beautiful photo of her on her baptism day. The kicker was the music. All put together, it was an amazing tribute to our new addition.
